This debate has been going on for YEARS.
Will it ever be settled?
Who knows.
But, personally, it's Southside or no side at all.
1. Our canal is a whole lot grander than its "royal" Northside cousin
2. And dotted along it you will find some of Dublin's most amazing street art
3. Plus, this is the sight that greets you at the very end of the Grand Canal
4. Ice-cream from Teddy's is something we'll never be too old for
5. Nor will we ever tire of watching the sunset from Dun Laoghaire pier
6. We have the two most prestigious universities on our side of the Liffey
7. And one of them is so stunning it is very frequently mistaken for Hogwarts
8. There's nothing like walking down a bustling Grafton Street on a summer's day
9. And the turning on of the lights each Christmas is a major event, regardless of what age you are
10. Everybody knows that there's no problem that a pint and a toastie in Grogan's won't fix
11. And if ever there was a rite of passage, it was going to Wezz
12. You can't beat a dip at the Forty Foot, rain hail or shine
13. Between The Bernard Shaw and Newmarket Square you're never short of flea markets on the Southside
14. Date spots? We've got all the best ones...
15. Dublin's most celebrated nightclub is on the Southside, and we'll never give up on our quest for a Gold Card
16. Love Bunsen? Well you'll only find it on the Southside, my friend
17. The view from Vico Road out to sea would rival anywhere along the Mediterranean
18. And the DART journey along the Southside coast makes for a dreamy commute
19. Top notch restaurants? Three of Dublin's Michelin star restaurants are on the Southside
20. The Poolbeg Towers always keep a watchful eye over Sandymount Strand
21. James Joyce himself was a big fan of Sandymount, choosing to base large parts of Ulysses there
22. We've got gorgeous central green areas like Merrion Square, Fitzwilliam Square and Stephen's Green
23. And you won't find anything more regal than the doors along them
24. The original and (best) Leo Burdock's lies on our side of the river
25. Who needs Howth Head when you have all the Dublin Mountains?
26. The flower sellers on Grafton are always game for a haggle and a chat (in that order!)
27. Bray is in OUR back garden, not the Northside's.
28. You'll find Dublin's coolest bars stretching up from South William Street, up Camden Street all the way to the Bernard Shaw at Portobello
29. Tasty eats under a tenner? We've got Neon, Camden Exchange and Pitt Bros to name but a few...
30. Say what you will, but it's a known fact that brunch is far superior on the Southside
31. And with Murphy's Ice-Cream on our side, I think we know who the real winners are here
32. But Southside or Northside aside, at least we can all agree...
