Dublin Airport’s Newest Route Getting ‘Surprising’ Level Of Interest

With talks of rainy weather coming back for June, sigh, it's no surprise that people are opting for the skies to get the feck out. 

And one spot that is proving extremely but surprisingly popular is one of Dublin's most recent and new routes which is launching this weekend. 

The European Boss of Cathay Pacific told Fora.ie that he has been shocked by the massive level of interest in the route saying it has caught the attention of people in China, Japan, Taiwan and the Philippines, as well as Australia and New Zealand.

James Ginns told the publication that inbound booking to Ireland “ran ahead of our expectations in terms of the (regional) spread” while outbound bookings are "very encouraging".

“The next few months are really exactly where they should be at this stage," he stated before saying that he would "never say never" to extending Cathay's Irish services. 

“We often start routes with four services a week. We find it’s a very good platform to begin a route," and stated a daily service could be a plan for the future. 

Cathay Pacific’s non-stop Dublin to Hong Kong service will being on 2 June.
