Going to Dublin Airport should always be memorable for the right things.
Whether it's going on that holiday that you've been waiting months for or maybe you're waving a loved-one off as they start a new chapter in their life or better still, maybe you're welcoming that loved one home after they've been gone for a while.
But for sure, your outstanding memory of Dublin Airport shouldn't be that you were stuck standing in a queue for a couple of hours.
Well, Dublin Airport has announced that is planning a "significant extension" at its immigration control area.
The Irish Independent reports that the expansion at Pier 1 and Pier 2 will mean "greater queuing capacity" and will improve passenger flow and the whole process of immigration.
This will also see the reconfiguration of existing passport booths and e-gates that are currently in operation.
Dublin Airport welcomed more than 3.2 million passengers in August, making it the busiest August in the airport’s 78-year history.
Passenger numbers increased by 6% last month helped by the introduction of 14 new routes over the summer period and extra capacity on more than 50 existing services.
August was the second consecutive month that Dublin Airport has welcomed more than 3.2 million passengers.
The number of passengers travelling to and from UK destinations in August remained static when compared to last year, with almost 927,000 passengers taking flights to and from the UK during the month.
More than 465,000 passengers travelled to and from North America in August, which was a 14% increase compared to last year.
Traffic to other international destinations, which includes flights to the Middle East, Africa and the Asia Pacific region, increased by 16%, as almost 111,000 passengers travelled on these route sectors during August.
The number of passengers using Dublin Airport as a hub to connect to another destination has increased by 17% in the first eight months of the year, with almost 1.2 million passengers transferring at Dublin so far this year.
