Mythology is a huge part of Irish culture - whether it's fond childhood memories of hearing about Oisín and Niamh's adventures to Tír na nÓg, or thinking that salmon is brain food purely because of an Bhradáin Feasa.
However, Irish mythology is not something we have that much contact with once we leave school, and that's something Mythfest 2015 hopes to change.
Running from the 3rd to the 7th of June, MythFest 2015 is a week-long festival of Irish and International Mythology run by the drama society of Trinity College, DU Players. This June they'll be expanding on the success and scope of last year’s festival with an added international element by incorporating mythological stories from across the globe into the schedule of performances.
There will be one act outdoor performances, art installations, night events, and a ticketed headline show, The Unquiet Hour in Trinity’s historic Front Square.
Trinity’s Rose Garden and Physics Garden will be transformed into ethereal, magical locations as they play host to the night time events of Mythfest, including film screenings, céilís and spoken word performances.
For anyone looking to do something with the kids this weekend, on Saturday there will also be a completely family-tailored day in the Rose Garden, with face painting, sock puppet workshops and plenty more activities to keep little and big children entertained.
