Lidl Tallaght Hit With Blow Almost As Bad As Looting Ahead Of Reopening

It is almost half a year since the Lidl in Tallaght was destroyed during Storm Emma.

Looting and vandalism was rampant in Tallaght on that infamous evening in March as a gang of people broke into a Lidl store in the Fortunestown area.

Looters tried to open the safe with a JCB and the army was called into the incident which made headlines worldwide.

Despite all this hardship, the store in Fortunestown was being rebuilt and would be bigger than the original.

A date of August 30 had been announced for the reopening but that could be affected following another act of robbery at the Lidl store.

Gardaí confirmed that copper piping and wire has been removed from the premises which could be crucial to the rebuilding of the store.

The incident took place on 11 August and no arrests have been made as of yet regarding the incident.
