Met Éireann Issue Snow And Ice Warning For Commuters This Morning

  Sure we're more than halfway through February and there's still no indication of warmer weather being on the way. Met Éireann has issued a 'status yellow' snow and ice warning across the country. There is a severe warning of rain turning to sleet and snow in the east this morning, with heavy snowfall likely on higher ground and icy patches expected across the country.

A chilly start to today with frost, fog and icy stretches as the last of the rain, sleet and snow clears the East coast soon after daybreak. Scattered wintry showers in the West will become more widespread in the morning but will die out again to leave a dry afternoon for most parts with spells of winter sunshine. Feeling cold throughout, with highest temperatures of just 4 to 7 degrees Celsius, in mostly moderate westerly breezes. More showers will push into Atlantic fringes towards evening.
