This Dublin Cafe Is Operating A Pay-What-You-Can System On Porridge

And now for something completely different...

Pay-what-you-can-afford porridge; a menu item at Pupp Cafe on Clanbrassil Street that has no fixed price. 

Pupp offer organic porridge with a seasonal homemade compote, but they don't list the price anywhere on their menus. People are welcome to pay whatever they like, and if asked, the staff suggest €3-€4.

Paul from Pupp Cafe got in touch with us, to share the findings of how much people are willing to pay for a good product. Here's what they've found so far:

• 1/3 of visitors pay €4, which is the upper limit of their suggested amount
• 81% of visitors spend €4-€7
• The average is €4.92

We also see a spike in people opting for €7, which is the same as a number of other items on the menu. This is far more than we expected people to pay, and it's interesting to see people value a tasty and filling meal at a uniform cost, regardless of ingredients or complexity.
