In a Facebook post, that has now been since deleted, a girl in Dublin shared her experience of being followed in Dublin.
This could have ended so much differently if it wasn't for the awareness and kindness of the casino man, the bus driver and the lady on the bus.
Here is the story:
"So I would like to start by saying thank you to the driver of the 46A Dublin Bus tonight who went out of his way to make sure I was safe, the guy from the casino on Westmoreland St who was out having a smoke while I was waiting on my bus, and to the woman on the bus who offered to miss her stop to stay on and make sure I was okay.
"I was at the stop for the 46a on Westmoreland St to go to the Phoenix Park after college tonight at about 9.50pm.
"I was standing beside this guy who was quite nice to me. I rang my friend to tell her what bus I was getting and where it was dropping me to.
"When I got off the phone I noticed a different man (id say late 20s) standing right on [sic] front of me just staring at me.
"I just tried to ignore him until the guy who was beside me said to me 'that guy was listening into your phone call where [sic] you were saying where you were going and what stop u [sic] were getting off at'.
"He asked me to be careful cause he didn't like the look of the guy who was still staring at me at this point.
"The man actually nearly begged me not to get the bus because he had a bad feeling about him. (I had to as I wasn't sure of the next bus) so the guy who was starting at me got on the bus as soon as it came, and I got on too.
"Then Dave [the casino worker] came on after me and asked the bus driver to look out for me as he doesn't feel that I'm safe and that the guy didn't seem right to him.
"He explained the situation to the bus driver and the driver said he'll make sure I'm ok. Then asked me if I was ok and all.
"I sat down at the back of the bus (the guy was upstairs) and I rang my friend to say I was on the bus."
"We then got to the stop I was intending to get off at and he got off at that stop.
"I stayed on the bus and the bus driver told me that was the last stop - he then asked me was I OK and that he also had a bad feeling, so he asked me exactly where I needed to go and I told him.
"He went out of his way to drop me right at that spot and dropped me literally to my friend's car and waited there until I got in the car with my friend because he said that the stop the guy got off at wasn't far from where we were and he wanted to make sure the guy wasn't around or looking for me.
"I know he didn't harm me but I strongly believe that was because he didn't have the chance to. He was definitely following me and for God knows what reason, I don't want to know."
