The New Enterprise Trains Have Been Banned In Ireland Over Safety Concerns

New trains on Translink's Enterprise service between Dublin and Belfast have been temporarily banned due to safety issues. The new fleet of trains was launched last November at a cost of €16.4m, however concerns arose after the train doors opened on two  separate occasions when the train was in transit.

According to UTV, last year's refurbishment programme included an extensive safety approval process however the door faults occurred nonetheless. Any trains with these safety concerns have been taken off the service while invesitgations are carried out on them.

An alternate train service is operating on some journeys between Belfast and Dublin while investigations are carried out, and it is hoped that the Enterprise service will resume as normal by the end of February.
