Capel Street is one of the most interesting streets in the city, where a vast array of contrasting businesses sit side by side.
Capel Street has some favourite Dublin food spots to boast like Musashi and Brother Hubbard, but there's another café on the street that I really love.
Mish Mash is a little café nestled at the very end of Capel Street, so far down that I was sure I must have passed it until I saw the beautiful white and blue entrance when I was just about to turn back around.
The café itself is small and the instant you walk in you feel the chilled out, relaxed vibe. It really feels like a hidden little gem.
I decided to order two of the specials, for starter I went with a cauliflower and hazelnut soup. It was so delicious and came with beautiful salty little croutons and a side of crushed hazelnut to sprinkle on top.
It was really unusual and the multigrain sourdough bread from Tartine just rounded it off perfectly. It was one of the nicest soups I've ever had.
I decided to go for the special salad for main which consisted of perfectly ripe, in-season plums with goats cheese, toasted almonds, a side of pesto and more of that incredible bread.
It was divine, the sweet plums and salty cheese were really nice together and the almonds gave a nice little crunch.
The whole thing was very simple, but very fresh and delicious, and I just loved how chilled out it was there. It's the perfect place to bring a book and enjoy a quiet lunch if you need to wind down for a while, it would also be a great place to catch up with a friend uninterrupted.
They also sell art in there and have the odd evening event such as live music (they're open until 9pm daily). I'd definitely recommend adding this little gem to your list of spots to hit up in the city.
