Located just outside of Dublin on the end of the DART line, Greystones is some spot for one spot.
Situated in beautiful County Wicklow, it's under an hour's drive to Dublin City Centre, or just around an hour on the DART. It has the peace and tranquillity of the garden of Ireland while being fairly close to the excitement of the city: pretty ideal!
We have once again teamed up with AIB to bring you our AIB Livin Dublin series, where we will explore areas in and around Dublin and let you know what your options are and the benefits of living in these areas.
(Psst! Make sure you try AIB's handy mortgage calculator here to find out how much you could borrow!)
There are plenty of great reasons to live in Greystones, so we have decided to highlight just nine of those reasons.
1. The beaches
One of the best things about this coastal town is, naturally, the beaches.
South Beach is particularly nice. Located at the southern end of the town, it's a mix of pebble and sand and is lifeguarded during the bathing season.
It's a really nice spot for both an early morning and evening stroll.
Like we said above, Greystones is a good bit outside of the city but is still easily accessed via the DART line.
The DART to and from greystones typically runs from very early in the morning during the week and quite regularly on weekends. Plus, you get some fantastic coastal views when travelling towards the city.
Greystones is also serviced by Dublin Bus routes 84a and 84/x.
3. Ms Robinsons
This adorable little den is the ideal spot for a quiet pint on the weekend.
With a warm, welcoming feel, punters will be surrounded by nostalgic bits and bric-a-brac that Ms Robinson herself has collected over the years.
The staff here promise to go out of their way to look after visitors, and it makes for a seriously enjoyable and wholesome experience.
They often show matches and even Love Island while serving up pints and some pretty decent cocktails.
4. Sport and wellness facilities
If being active is part of your life, then you'll be sorted in Greystones.
Shoreline Leisure is a well-equipped gym and swimming facility which was actually named 'Ireland's Best Leisure Centre' in 2018. The team pride themselves on their friendly atmosphere and support to help motivate you to achieve real results.
Greystones is also home to Éire Óg GAA Club, Greystones United AFC Soccer Club and Greystones Rugby Club.
5. Happy Pear
While we're on the topic of wellness, sure we may as well talk about The Happy Pear. Dubbing themselves as "a movement to create happier, healthier lifestyles and build community", their Shoreline Leisure Centre branch offers a range of breakfasts, snacks, lunch and dinners as well as a trusty selection of coffee and cakes.

Since it's on the coast, Greystones is an amazing place for anyone who loves to be on, in or around water. Other than swimming, there are a few great ways to take to the water out in Greystones, such as sailing, angling and diving.
7. The food scene in general
The food scene in Greystones is pretty unreal. According to some, it's even home to Ireland's best burrito, which can be found at Burrito Box.
The town is also home to The Hungry Monk, Indian Spice Company, The Beach House and loads more places serving up amazing grub.
8. Bray to Greystones cliff walk
Arguably one of the most spectacular cliff walks on the east coast of Ireland, the Bray to Greystones cliff walk is the perfect sunny day activity.
The path is well maintained and will take most people around two and a half hours to complete. And once you're finished, you can explore all that Bray has to offer before hopping on the DART for a quick journey back to Greystones.
9. The Whale Theatre
The Whale Theatre in Greystones is home to all kinds of entertainment including plays, movie screenings, cabarets, comedy shows and all kinds of performance art, so there's always something really interesting going on.
Situated in the heart of Greystones Town, the theatre opened in 2017 and has been enjoying great success ever since.
