Some Changes Have Been Made To The Luas Red Line Until July – Here’s What We Know

Major construction to the Luas Red Line kicked off on May 21 – and it, in turn, is going to cause some changes for the following weeks.

So if you're a regular on that line, you may want to take note of a few things...

All stops from Abbey Street to The Point are closed

These stops include Abbey Street, Busáras, Connolly, George’s Dock, Mayor Square - NCI, Spencer Dock and of course, The Point.

These stops closed at 9pm on Saturday May 21

And will remain closed until the end of July.

But don't worry, because there's a replacement bus service in place...

Because those boots weren't made for walking. 

This bus operates from the Jervis stop out to The Point and back. So if you’re heading to Spencer Dock from Rialto you’ll be hopping off at Jervis and getting the bus for the remainder of your journey.

...for which you still need your Luas ticket

Oh, thought you could get away with a free journey, eh?

WELL. A valid ticket or Leap Card will be required to use the replacement bus service.

The rest of the Red Line stops is working as normal

So if you're commuting anywhere between Jervis out to Tallaght/Saggart you're not affected, and can spend the entire duration of the works feeling smug.

It's all part of Luas Cross City works

And is necessary to facilitate work being done on both O’Connell Street Marlborough Street. So you'll be thankful for it in the long run, really. We'll be getting 13 new stops with eight of these in core city centre area, and it'll take a mere 21 minutes to travel the 5.9km from Broombridge to St. Stephen’s Green.
